A brave teenage girl scared off an attacker following a terrifying sexual assault.

The 13-year-old was approached by a man at around 8.30am on Sunday, December 1, who made inappropriate comments towards her and asked her name before grabbing at her wrists.

The terrified teenager was then pinned to a wall by the attacker in the courtyard at the rear of Queens Court on Queens Promenade.

Believing he was trying to kiss her, the brave teenager has screamed and tried to press the buzzer of a house to raise the alarm.

The man has then run off.

Police, who only released the information on Friday, December 6, are now appealing for information and any witnesses to come forward.

Det Con Madeleine Sawyer said: “We are appealing for anybody that witnessed this incident or recognises the description of the man involved to contact police.

“Fortunately the girl was unharmed but she was understandably left very distressed.”

The man is described as being white, aged 20- to 22-years-old, of slim build, 5ft10 tall with strawberry blonde hair brushed to one side and gelled, possibly with facial hair.

He was wearing a black North Face waterproof jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 3191 Sawyer or DC 835 Reid at Lancashire Police on 101.
