A SCOTTISH couple moved to Blackpool for a fresh start but ended up stealing to buy food.

Jody Neil, 37, and Kerry Bell, 27, both of Reads Avenue, Blackpool, admitted theft of £140 worth of toiletries from Boots when they appeared before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

They were each put on six months supervision and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £60 victims’ surcharge by resort JPs.

Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, said Neil was seen putting items into Bell’s jacket in the store at about 2pm on October 9.

They were detained outside Boots and the toiletries were recovered.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said the couple had moved to the resort to make a fresh start.

They struggled to find accommodation and sort out their benefits, so they stole to buy food.
