Former teacher denies assaults on boys

A former teacher at Rossall School has denied indecently assaulting four boys in the 1970s.

Roy Ball of Edward Road, South Clevedon, Somerset pleaded not guilty to eight charges alleging indecent assaults on boys all under 14.

Five of the charges were allegedly committed on the same youngster.

Ball, 80, appeared for a plea and case management hearing at Preston Crown Court, as did his barrister, via a videolink system fromBristol Crown Court.

A trial date has been fixed for November 3.

Judge Christopher Cornwall bailed him on the same terms at the end of the hearing.
