Austin, 22, of Broadwater Avenue, is alleged to have fatally stabbed Danny Wise, 32, during an altercation close to the junction of Laidleys Walk and Macbeth Road in Fleetwood on Wednesday June 24 this year.

Post-mortem tests gave the cause of death as a single stab wound to the neck.

The defendant had been due to stand trial this week but the case was unable to proceed after his legal representative fell ill.

However, Austin was able to formally enter a plea of not guilty.

The case was adjourned for trial until March 1 next year and Austin was remanded in custody.
