A man spat in a woman’s mouth after they argued outside a shop.
Gareth Truckel, 30, formerly of Burnside Avenue, Marton, now living at Greenwood Avenue, Ansdell, pleaded guilty to assault.
He was fined £80 with £85 costs and ordered to pay compensation of £100 to the woman plus £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said a woman in her early fifties went to a shop on Haweside Lane, Marton, on July 10 at 2.30pm.
Truckel and the woman knew each other, not personally, but from living in the same area and words were exchanged between them.
When the woman told Truckel to “get out of her face” he spat at her with the spittle landing in her mouth.
The incident was seen by a workman nearby.
Leisa Splaine, defending, said Truckel’s mother had collapsed and died earlier this year.
He and his brother could not afford to live in the home they all used to share and had to move.
Truckel said he had heard the woman had been making comments that it was good his mother had died as it meant the family no longer lived in the area.
When he saw the woman outside the shop words were exchanged and he spat at her.
