A FATHER was seen tampering with a gaming machine the day after his marriage broke up.

Jason Leech, 42, of Luton Road, Anchorsholme, admitted attempting to steal cash and damaging the one armed bandit.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said the manager of the Norbreck Castle Hotel was told a man in the bar was trying to break into the machine on February 10.

CCTV showed Leech, a father-of-four, shaking the machine and pulling it away from the wall then putting his hand into the money dispensing chute.

Steve Townley, defending, told Blackpool Magistrates Court that the day before the offence Leech’s 27-year marriage had broken down.

His client had been drinking and admitted he had no idea why he was at the Norbreck Castle.

Leech was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £40 compensation plus the £15 victim’s surcharge by Blackpool Magistrates.
