A grandson who was under stress because his grandmother was dying punched his neighbour.

James Dolan, 23, of Medlock Avenue, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to assault.

Dolan was already on a suspended prison sentence and his lawyer Patrick Nelligan asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on him to give him time to attend his grandmother’s funeral.

Blackpool magistrates agreed to bail him for a report and he will be sentenced at a later date.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Dolan had an argument with his next-door neighbour on October 8. Dolan punched him in the face and grabbed him by the neck.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said Dolan’s grandmother’s funeral was next week.
