The former secretary of a Fylde swimming club has been charged with a sex offence against a disabled woman.

Stuart Inglis, 65, will appear before magistrates at the end of the month accused of causing or inciting sexual activity with the woman.

The allegation dates back to 2013.

It is alleged Inglis groomed the woman by text, online and in person.

A Lancashire Police spokesman confirmed: “Stuart Inglis, 65, of Granville Road, Blackpool has been charged with causing or inciting sexual activity with a mentally disordered female.”

The charge covers the period between January 1, 2013 and December 8, 2013.

Inglis, who is a former trustee and secretary of the Blackpool-based swimming club, was charged by police on Wednesday and subsequently bailed.

A date for the court hearing has not been set but is expected to take place later this month.
