A former Blackpool councillor has been warned by a judge that he is facing a possible prison sentence following his conviction on charges relating to indecent images of children.

Julian Mineur, 59, who represented the Conservative party on the Greenlands ward in Bispham between 2007 and 2011, was found guilty by a jury today of five offences – three of making and two of possessing indecent images – following a four day trial at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard how police discovered he had accessed both still and moving images after carrying out searches of his homes at Sackville Avenue and Common Edge Road, Blackpool.

Officers seized two laptops and an external hard drive.

A police investigation showed that some material had been downloaded while access had been gained to a members area of a Blackpool Borough Council website.
