The search continues for a group of men who injured three people during a machete attack at a Blackpool hotel.

A group of approximately seven men brandishing weapons attacked another group of men in a vicious attack at the Doric Hotel in Queens Promenade on Sunday, July 5.

The men - who police say were in possession of machetes as well as other weapons - made off from the scene when officers arrived at 11.15pm.

Three people were taken to hospital following the altercation. Two remained in hospital the following day but their injuries were not thought the be life-threatening.

In an update issued today (July 8) police confirmed no arrests have been made as of yet, but enquiries are "very much ongoing".

In a previous statement a spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at around 11.15pm last night (Sunday, July 5) to a hotel on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, to reports of a public order incident.

"We attended and found a group of approximately seven men, in possession of weapons including machetes, had attacked another group of men before making off from the area.

"At this point we believe all parties involved are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public."

Three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle rushed to the scene to help the injured men.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We attended an incident on Queen’s Promenade, Blackpool after 11pm on July 5.

"We sent three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene and took three patients to hospital.
