A drunken mother had her seven-year-old son in the car with her when she drove to get a kebab.

Deborah Casey was more than twice over the limit and crashed into an oncoming car injuring the driver.

Casey, 39, of Hathaway, Marton, admitted to driving with excess alcohol. She was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 10 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, banned from the road for 28 months, fined £10 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said on August 28 about 10pm Casey was driving a Peugeot on the resort’s Burton Road when a man driving in the opposite direction said she came round a corner at speed. She crashed into his car damaging the wing mirror plus the front and rear doors. He suffered a sore back, neck and shoulders.

A breath test showed 91 microgrammes of alcohol in her body - 35 is the limit.
