Two men caused a drunken disturbance in Blackpool’s Dickson Road mid-afternoon.

David Heaps, 37, of General Street, and Darren O’Hara, 42, of Talbot Road, both of Blackpool, each pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

They were both given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Adrian Hollamby, said police were called to a report of two men shouting, swearing and causing a disturbance on Dickson Road, on June 23 at 4pm.

Brett Chappell, defending, said O’Hara had been viciously assaulted.

Both he and Heaps had been drinking when the man who had assaulted O’Hara saw them and started abusing them.
