A guest tried to strangle the host of a drinks party and repeatedly punched him in the face, a court was told.

Lee Humphreys, 42, of Lytham Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man.

Get off my dad

He was bailed to January 22 for sentence by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Humpheys was at his neighbour’s flat on November 16, having drinks when he started to fall asleep on a bed.

Humphreys got up, punched the host five times in the face before falling into a sideboard, knocking over a television and damaging a plug.

He put his hands round the host’s throat and squeezed while the host’s son shouted “get off my dad.”

When interviewed Humphreys said he had drunk three litres of cider and two bottles of sparkling wine.
