A man described as being turned into an alien character by drink battered a girlfriend while she had her toddler daughter in her arms.

Russell Crawley, 33, formerly of Central Drive, now living at Bela Grove, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assaulting a mother and her child.

He was bailed to January 24 for pre-sentence reports and warned he may be jailed by Blackpool magistrates.

Angus Craigen, prosecuting, told the court the woman said Crawley was extremely drunk. She was tending to her daughter who was crying when the attack happened on Saturday January 7.

Crawley punched the woman in the face and ribs and kicked her leg. After the fracas the woman noticed her daughter had a mark on her face.

Ashley Fisher, defending, said: “He can not remember anything about it. He said he had more to drink than he had ever had in his life before. Drink turned him into a completely alien character.”
