Drunk dad broke into house and fell asleep

A drunken dad broke into a woman's house by kicking in the front door panel '“ and went to sleep.

Stephen Young, whose partner had left him with their two children, said he had drunk 20 pints and some spirits before breaking in.

The woman, whose home it was, arrived back and was frightened when she saw the damage. After going to a neighbour’s `she looked out to see a pair of legs poking through the hole in her door.

Young, 37, of Linfield Terrace, South Shore, pleaded guilty to damaging property.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation to the householder with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Gary McAnulty, defending, said over the past few months Young had had issues with alcohol and had got specialist help for his problem,

Young had never been in the house he broke into before, but it was near his address.

He had now reconciled with his partner and was back living with her
