Drunk assaulted partner at family barbecue

A family barbecue ended in a man committing drunken violence, Blackpool magistrates heard.

Jack Croft,20, of Condor Grove,Blackpool, admitted assaulting his partner and criminal damage to two doors.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the couple had lived together for several months

They hosted a barbecue and Croft started drinking at about 5-30pm.

He later became abusive and aggressive.

He pinned his partner down on a bed, holding her down by her wrists, and made remarks to her daughter.

When police were called he grabbed a knife and made a series of threats before he was arrested.

Crofte said he could not remember what had gone on.

Mitch Sarangi, defending, said:”It is early days but they are back together.

“He cannot really pin down what caused him to suddenly flip apart from the drinking.”

Croft was placed on an 18-month community order. He will have to pay £225 costs.
