A Fleetwood taxi driver claimed £8,928 in benefits he was not entitled to.

Fred Clapp, 55, of Garland Grove, had been claiming housing benefit based on being a self-employed taxi driver.

However, he failed to declare a private pension from ICI and was overpaid between September 2009 and December 2014.

Clapp appeared at Blackpool Magistrates Court after earlier pleading guilty to two offences of benefit fraud.

He was ordered to carry out 48 hours of unpaid work in the community and pay £100 costs plus £60 victim surcharge.
