A learner driver took his father’s car on a joyride without permission for the second time and crashed it into two other vehicles.

Kevin Keating, who was more than twice over the legal alcohol limit at the time, then fled from the accident scene on September 28.

Keating, 24, of Hornsey Avenue, St Annes, pleaded guilty to the aggravated taking of a car, driving it with excess alcohol without insurance and not in accordance with his licence.

He was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 20 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work for the community, banned from the road for two years and told to pay a £150 court charge with £85 costs plus £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
