A woman celebrating her 21st birthday crashed her car and was left hanging out of the passenger window.

Georgia Dugdale got upset after there was a disturbance at the party she was at and drove off, smashing into a hedge.

Dugdale, 21, Sherbourne Road, Hambleton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for 18 months and fined £200 with £85 costs plus £20 by Blackpool magistrates.

Presiding magistrate Janet Boccaccio told her: “I think you have learnt this was a very foolish thing to do. It has impacted on your life and could have impacted on someone else’s.”

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said a man went to pick his girlfriend up from a party when he saw Dugdale get into her Citroen C1 in the early hours of January 25.

The witness said Dugdale drove past him and rounded a corner on Fleetwood Road.

Dugdale then crashed into a hedge and the car bounced back into the carriageway.

She was found hanging out of the passenger window and taken to hospital.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had been celebrating her 21st birthday and ended up at a house party.

“There was some friction at the party and she drove off,” he added.
