A man who took a car from a caravan park rammed the van of a security guard who was chasing him.

Thomas McGahey was almost twice over the limit at the time and had three male friends in the car who had come with him to Blackpool for a night out.

McGahey, 31, of Orwell Avenue, Wythenshawe, Manchester, admitted the aggravated taking of a Ford Escort car and driving with excess alcohol without insurance.

He was jailed for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months, put on one year’s supervision, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £400 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.
