A Kirkham lifeguard crashed a car into a tree which then landed in a ditch after drinking while watching the FA cup final.
Joshua Sheridan, who had been driving his grandfather’s BMW X3 on May 21, then called the police to tell them about the accident and waited at the scene for two hours for an officer.
You were a risk to the public, but you did show remorse
A breath test showed 56 micrograms of alcohol in Sheridan’s body – the limit is 35. Sheridan, 24, of Church Road, Treales, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol without insurance.
He was banned from the road for 12 months, fined £200 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by magistrates.
Presiding magistrate, Sylvia Kirby, told him: “You were a risk to the public, but you did show remorse.”
Sheridan believed his insurance covered him on the X3 but it didn’t.
