Double car theft probe in town

POLICE are appealing for information after thieves stole two cars in Kirkham.

The first theft happened at Preston Street, Kirkham, when a black Mitsubishi L200 was taken from the forecourt of the Fylde Motor Company.

An Audi A3 was also taken from the driveway of a house in Orders Lane in the market town, after the offenders broke into a house and stole the keys.

The car was later found abandoned a short distance away.

The theft of the Mitsubishi took place between 5.30pm on the November 7 and 9am on the November 8, while the Audi was stolen sometime between 6.50pm and 7.10pm on the November 8.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in either of the areas on the dates mentioned to come forward and contact police with any information they think might help.

Sgt Niamh O’Donoghue, chief investigating officer for Lancashire Police, said: “I would appeal to people to always report any suspicious activity to police, particularly if you have noticed anything out of character in the area recently, get in touch with us.

“I would also urge residents to make sure their doors are locked whenever possible and vehicles are left locked and secure, even if it is just for a short time.”
