Detectives investigating alleyway sex attack on teen girl

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a South Shore alleyway in the early hours of yesterday morning, according to a police report.

Police were called to the scene, close to Waterloo Road, at around 2.40am yesterday, and have now launched an investigation, which a spokeswoman for the force said was in its ‘very early’ stages.

The alleyway was cordoned off yesterday afternoon as specialist crime scene investigators searched for evidence, while witnesses have been asked to report what they saw.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said: “We were called at around 2.40am on Sunday, June 5, to a report a 17-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted in an alleyway close to Waterloo Road in Blackpool.

“We are in the very early stages of an investigation, and enquiries are on-going at this time to establish the exact circumstances.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.

“The girl is being supported by specially trained officers.”
