A dental nurse who came out of a side street at speed was more than twice over the limit and driving without shoes.

Rebecca Vanner, 23, of Preston Old Road, Marton, admitted drink-driving.

She was disqualified from driving for 22 months, fined £180 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police saw Vanner in a Yaris speed out of a side-street and swerve about the road on April 20 at 5.30am.

She was stopped in Lynton Avenue and police saw she was not wearing any shoes. A breath test showed 88 micrograms of alcohol in her body – 35 is the limit.

Peter Cave, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had been staying at a friend’s house and had not intended driving. She fell asleep and was woken by a male friend who asked for a lift home.
