A man in shorts caused a fracas at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court when he marched into a courtroom wearing them.

Magistrates had been told Craig Jones was inappropriately dressed but that he had a pair of long trousers in a bag he was carrying, so was able to change.

But Jones came into court and said: “Would you like me to put these pants on now?” Presiding magistrate, James Park, replied: “Yes, but out of court.”

Jones, 26, of The Lakes, Mickledon Road, Mereside, Blackpool, changed outside and then returned to plead guilty to an offence of being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
