A man believed a cyclist was staring at him and thumped him in the mouth.
Daniel Geoghegan’s victim had to be taken to hospital because blood was gushing from a cut in his mouth.
He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £100 to his victim plus £85 costs with £15 victims’ surcharge by magistrates.
The court heard a man got off his bike on Carshalton Road on July 6 and the defendant said: “You’re lucky I don’t thump you.”
The cyclist told him to get lost and Geoghegan punched him in the mouth.
Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said her client had mental health problems.
