A DRIVER has been fined hundreds of pounds after crashing and then driving off.

James Dean hit a parked car in his BMW as he drove down a Wyre country lane.

And although the 25-year-old did stop at the scene of the accident on Kiln Lane, Hambleton, he drove off when the owner of the other car said he was going to call police.

Blackpool Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday Dean had made sure he picked up the debris from his own car before leaving.

Dean, of Smithy Lane, Stalmine, had earlier been found guilty at a trial of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

He was also found guilty of driving without due care.

Dean did not attend yesterday’s hearing to hear the sentence imposed on him by magistrates.

He was ordered to pay a £400 fine for each offence, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £50 compensation.
