Cleveleys crash sees police car spin and hit wall, injuring officers - this is what happened

Officers have been injured after their police car spun and hit a wall to avoid another motorist in Cleveleys last night (Wednesday, January 13).

The crash happened at the junction of North Drive and Anchorsholme Lane East at around 10pm and led to the crossroads being closed for around an hour.

Lancashire Police said another driver had allegedly pulled out in front of the oncoming police car, forcing its officer to swerve to avoid a collision.

The wet conditions led to the police car spinning and hitting the garden wall of a home, with two officers suffering minor injuries.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle has been handed a ticket for allegedly using a mobile phone behind the wheel.

Pictures taken at the scene show four police cars surrounding the black vehicle and blocking the road.

A police spokesman said: "It looks like a car has driven across the path of a police vehicle travelling in the area, causing it to spin and hit a wall.

"The officers suffered minor injuries. The driver has been given a ticket for using their mobile phone behind the wheel."
