Police are appealing for information following the theft of more than £5,000 of cigarettes in St Annes.

Around 10.10am on Saturday, a driver was making a delivery at the One Stop store on the corner of St Albans Road and Holmefield Road.

While the driver was inside the shop, a man entered the rear of the cream coloured P&H van and removed £5,600 of cigarettes in three large, clear plastic bags before walking off down the alleyway opposite.

PC Lea Kelly said: “It was extremely busy in this area at the time of the theft and I am sure someone will have seen something, but possibly will not have realised the relevance of it.

“If you have any information you think could help with our inquiry then please come forward.

“I would also like to speak with anybody who has any information about cigarettes being sold cheaply in the area.”

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101.
