A pub customer pushed a bar worker over on to concrete slabs after asking him for a cigarette.

David Brown, 64, of Crystal Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to assault. He was sentenced to a six-week tagged curfew from 9pm to 7am and ordered to pay £100 compensation to his victim with £85 costs plus £65 victims’ surcharge at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Claire Harris, prosecuting, said a bar worker at the Harold pub was outside when Browne walked up and pushed him on June 7. Steven Townley, defending, said his client thought the bar worker had been provocative in his reply and he pushed him.
