A supposed charity collector was arrested for immigration offences after raising suspicions among supermarket staff.

The 21-year-old man, originally from Bangladesh had visited Morrisons, off Squires Gate Lane, South Shore, on several occasions with a bucket but staff contacted police after being told by the charity they had no record of anyone collecting for them in the store.

Officers arrested the man, who gave a London address as his place of residence, in the shop at around 2pm.
