A man who burgled a woman’s home was caught out by blood he left at the scene of the crime.
Jason Hepplestall, 40, of Barton Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to burglary when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.
Claire Hilton, prosecuting, said on December 7 at 9.40am, a woman left her home on Squires Gate Lane.
She returned two hours later to find foreign banknotes she usually kept in her bedroom, strewn in the hall.
Jewellery and a laptop computer was missing and considerable damage had been caused by the burglar forcing his way in at the rear of the property.
The woman was so upset she suffered a severe asthma attack. Blood found at the scene matched the defendant’s DNA.
Hugh Pond, defending, said his client had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
Hepplestall was committed in custody for sentence at Preston Crown Court on January 12.
