A man has made his first appearance at court charged following a street attack during which a man was hit on the head with a car jack.
Jordan Potter, 21, suffered serious head injuries and remains critical in Royal Preston Hospital.
Steven Higginson, 27, of Duke Street, Blackpool has been charged with causing the victim grievous bodily harm on Branstree Road, Mereside on July 7.
Higginson appeared before Blackpool Magistrates yesterday.
The court heard Mr Potter was injured during a clash between two groups of men during which the jack was allegedly thrown at him.
Higginson was sent for trial at Preston Crown Court where he will appear on August 8.
The application for bail for Higginson made by his lawyer David Charnley was refused.
