An early present has landed one of the country’s most convicted criminals Christmas in prison.
Glenn Stacey, who has a criminal record of 326 previous offences, was given a gift of cannabis a court was told.
Stacey, 54, of Victory Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing drugs and theft.
He was sentenced to eight weeks jail by Blackpool magistrates.
Neil Cheesbrough, prosecuting, said the alarm went off in Wilkinsons as Stacey left the shop on December 17.
He handed over Christmas lights, a toy truck and a toiletries gift set he had stolen and a small amount of cannabis.
Robert Castle, defending, said: “He had the cannabis because it was an early Christmas present from an acquaintance who felt sorry for him.”
