A man told police he smoked cannabis on a recreational basis.

Richard Johnson, 35, of Rathlyn Avenue, Layton, pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug.

He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £180 court charge with £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates, who ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said police went to Johnson’s address and when an officer searched him, a small amount of cannabis was found in his jacket pocket on June 20.

He had a previous conviction for cannabis possession.

Johnson told magistrates: “I fully admitted possessing and ownership of the cannabis.”
