Nicholas Carter, 39, of Wensleydale Avenue, Grange Park, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said a police patrol was driving along the resort’s Westcliffe Drive on July 4 when Carter pulled out in front of them in his BMW. An officer in the patrol car immediately smelt cannabis.

Carter got out of the car and police found a large cannabis joint under the front wheel and another cannabis on the floor of the car.

Carter told magistrates it had been a very stressful time for him.

He had then put some of the drug in his pocket and forgotten about it.

He was fined £100 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
