A man terrified two strangers when he tried to break into their home.
Martin Mulvey, 47, of Derby Road, North Shore, Blackpool, admitted damaging a window and a door handle.
Andrea Fawcett, prosecuting, said a couple were disturbed at their Blackpool home by banging on a window on March 5 at 7.40pm.
The husband went to investigate and found Mulvey trying to open the back door with a brick.
Mulvey told magistrates he had drunk so much he could not remember the incident.
But he said he had since drastically reduced what he drank.
He was given a 12 months conditional discharge, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £50 costs and £15 victims’ surcharge.
