A schoolboy was hit on the head with a piece of wood and pushed head-first into a wall in an attempted street robbery.

Police said the 14-year-old boy was walking along Waterloo Road in Blackpool when he was approached by three teenage boys near to the Full Moon store.

They demanded the boy’s mobile phone, which he refused to hand over. As a result, he was attacked.

The three thieves, who are described as white and in their early to mid-teens, ran off empty-handed.

Fortunately, the boy suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

Police have now released CCTV images of three people they would like to speak to.

Det Con Kate Buckingham said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack. We are very keen to trace the people responsible.

If anybody recognises any of the people in the CCTV I would urge them to contact police directly.”

Anybody with any information should call police on 101.
