A former professional bodybuilder who came to Blackpool for a weekend with his girlfriend has been accused of fracturing a number of her bones and causing £7,000 of damage to a resort hotel.

Ashley Louis, who was making his first appearance at court, is also alleged to have barricaded himself into his room at the De Vere Hotel and threatened police officers.

Louis, 28, of Moss Lane, Macclesfield, is charged with maliciously wounding a woman with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm, breaking her ribs and arm.

He is also accused of affray and damaging a door, television, furniture, curtains, upholstery, ceiling and windows valued at £7,000 belonging to the De Vere Hotel.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on April 12.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, asked for the case to be heard at crown court and said bail was opposed for Louis.

Defence lawyer, Brett Chappell, did not ask for bail for his client.

He added that Louis had indicated he would plead not guilty to the offence of wounding.
