Blackpool youth club has bikes stolen after break-in

Thieves broke into a Blackpool youth group’s premises and stole 12 bicycles used by children in some of the most deprived areas of the town.

A group of five males kicked through a window at the former Horsebridge Community Centre off Dinmore Avenue, on Wednesday at 9pm.

The centre is used by the Boathouse Youth group, whose chief executive Laurance Hancock, said security had now been improved.

He said: “Our charity provides, free, high quality activities for 350 children. The ones we work with often don’t have their own bikes, so this is disappointing. But it will not interrupt our activities.

"They got in through a boarded up window in one of the annex buildings at the side. We will now have to brick up those windows."

He said apart from the break-in damage, some equipment such as helmets were also broken. CCTV images have been provided to the police.
