A thief who stole hundreds of pounds worth of meat from Blackpool shops has been jailed.

Christopher Easter started his crime spree, stealing almost £500 worth of meat, only three days after being released from his last prison sentence.

Easter, 38, of Windsor Avenue, South Shore, admitted 12 offences of theft.

He was sentenced to 40 weeks imprisonment by District Judge James Hatton sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Easter went out shoplifting on 12 occasions from February 15 to March 16, stealing meat from Tesco, Spar, Co-op and All Days shops. Easter was described as having a prolific record for shoplifting.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said Easter had no accommodation and his benefits had been stopped when he was jailed.
