Nathan Theaker, 19, driving with excess alcohol

A teenager who was over the alcohol limit collided with a traffic island in a pre-Christmas crash.

Nathan Theaker had previously told a woman friend he had picked up that he had only had one drink.

Theaker, 19, of North Drive, Thornton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 15 months, fined £250 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Theaker texted a woman friend saying he would pick her up on December 17.

She asked if he had been drinking and he said he had had one drink.

About 11.15pm Theaker was driving a VW golf with his woman friend as a passenger, on Broadway, Fleetwood, when he clipped a traffic island and the car spun round ending up in the opposite direction.

Theaker was taken to hospital and told a nurse he had been driving.

A breath test showed 55 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.

When interviewed he said he had been drinking with a friend and had four or five pints before picking up the woman friend.

Theaker, who had no previous convictions, said he had felt fine to drive.

He added: “That was naive judgement and it was stupid to put myself and others in danger. It has taught me a lesson.”

Robert Taylor, 57, making and distributing indecent photographs of a child

A man accused of having more than 3,000 indecent pictures of children some at the highest level of depravity has made his first appearance at court.

Robert Taylor, 57, of Quail Holme Road, Knott End, is charged with three offences each of making and distributing indecent photographs of a child.

He also faces three offences of possessing extreme pornography.

The offences are alleged to have taken place at Poulton between May 2005 and August 2016. Prosecutor, Pam Smith, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.Defence lawyer, Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, said her client would not indicate pleas to the offences at that stage.

Taylor was given unconditional bail to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 31 by Blackpool magistrates.

Daniel Smith, 26, assault

A man who bashed his twin brother told police they were always having fights.

Daniel Smith punched and hit twin David after his brother asked him to show some respect to their mother.

Smith, a 26-year-old former sandblaster, of Fairfield Court, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was fined £40 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said the defendant argued with his mother and was told by his twin to show some respect on December 16.

Smith punched his twin on the head and melee ensued.

Smith failed to calm down and when his twin went outside to call the police the defendant followed and hit him again, leaving him with minor bruising to his head.

When interviewed Smith said it was a brother on brother scuffle and that they were always fighting.

He said they were smacking, grabbing, pulling and shoving one another but it did not involve punching.

Smith’s twin told police he did not want his brother prosecuting but he thought he needed help for his drinking,

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had been prosecuted because of his honesty in the interview with police.

Mr Townley added: “He said he and his twin have been fighting all their lives - rutting and scuffling to see who is strongest.”

Lawren Newman, 22, drunk and disorderly

A drunken woman threw an inhaler at a police officer who was trying to help her.

Lawren Newman, 22, of Woolman Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

She was fined £40 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police were called by a taxi driver after a woman had left his cab after being abusive to him on December 14.

The driver told police he was worried about her mental health.

Newman was found crouched down nearby.

An officer offered to drive her home but she threw an inhaler at him.

Kyle Blakey, 30, driving with excess alcohol

A drunken driver was caught in the police’s Christmas anti drink drive net when he was stopped in a routine check by an officer.

Kyle Blakey, 30, of Alston Avenue, Cleveleys, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 12 months, fined £300 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge.
