Damien Singleton, 42, and Ryan Singleton, 23, intent to supply drugs

A father and son accused of having £74,000 of cocaine with intent to supply the drug have made their first appearance at court.

The drugs are alleged to have been found in a holdall in a car the duo were travelling in at Blackpool on June 23 this year.

Damien Singleton, 42, of Devonshire Road, and his son Ryan Singleton, 23, of Convent Crescent, both of Blackpool, each indicated they would not plead to the offence at that stage.

Prosecutor, Sarah Perkins, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

The defendants were bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on December 7 by Blackpool magistrates.

David Senior, 71, driving with excess alcohol

A pensioner was over the alcohol limit when he crashed into a parked Mini the driver was sat in.

David Senior, 71, of Southfield Drive, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £154 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said police were called to an accident on Newton Drive where Senior’s Nissan Micra had collided with a parked Mini Cooper on October 21at 4.05pm. A breath test showed 46 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.

Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, told magistrates that Senior said the Mini driver had opened his car door in the path of his vehicle, causing the collision. Senior had drunk some alcohol that day but he did not think he was over the limit.

Jamie McEvoy, 21, intent to supply drugs

A 21-year-old Blackpool man accused of dealing in crack cocaine has been remanded in custody.

Jamie McEvoy, of Lang Street, is accused of having five wraps of the drug with intent to supply. He is also accused of possessing cannabis and a bail offence.

Blackpool Magistrates refused McEvoy bail and he will appear at Preston Crown Court on December 14.

Christopher Wilson, 25, breach of the peace

A man was arrested after he told police that he had a bomb strapped to his chest.

Christopher Wilson, 25, of Ashton Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum of £50 for 12 months by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Sarah Perkins, said police received a call from a Blackpool hospital saying a man had been there holding a knife and threatening to kill himself on November 8.

As police headed to Wilson’s address officers were told Wilson had contacted police communications to say he had a bomb strapped to his chest.

Wilson told magistrates he had mental health issues and added: “I was disgusted by my behaviour.”

Stephen O’Neill, 36, theft

A man barred from going into every Marks and Spencer store in the UK tried his luck in Blackpool, the town’s magistrates heard.

Stephen O Neill, 36, stole 17 ladies dresses from the Church Street outlet worth £591.50. When staff gave chase he dropped the bag and was detailed before police arrived.

O’Neill of Partington Street, Manchester admitted the theft and breaching the terms of bail imposed by Grimsby Magistrates who had imposed the M& S ban on him.

Gary McAnulty,defending, said: “He had come to Blackpool with a friend to buy items from a novelty shop for a stag night. He fell out with his friend and fell over knocking his head.

“He cannot remember what drove him to go into M&S but accepts stealing all the dresses.”

His client was made the subject of an eight week curfew and must pay £170 costs.

Julie Gillan, 47, fraud

A Lytham woman has denied fraud on Fylde Council valued at over £19,000.

Julie Gillan, 47, of Clifton Drive is alleged to have claimed the amount in Housing Benefit while failing to disclose she was living at a house owned by her father and not paying him rent.

Blackpool Magistrates said the case against Julie Gillan must be heard at Preston Crown Court.

She was granted unconditional bail until she appears at the higher court on December 14.

Raymond Hilton, 70, driving with excess alcohol

A pensioner was over the limit when he drove away from a Blackpool hotel he and his wife thought “too squalid” to stay at.

Raymond Hilton was seen driving very slowly by a taxi driver who tipped-off the police.

Hilton, 70, of Outwood Road, Radcliffe, Manchester, who works for a training organisation, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined £652 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £65 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Stewart Taylor, 49, fraud

A man sold a camera at a second hand shop when he realised it had been stolen.

Stewart Taylor, 49, of Palatine Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to fraudulently gaining £150.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £150 compensation with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said police were alerted to the fact a camera at Cash Convertors, Church Street, had been stolen on September 21.

Inquiries led to Taylor as the seller.

When interviewed Taylor said he had bought the camera from a man a couple of months previously.

When he became aware it had been stolen he sold it.

Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said her client had had some problems with alcohol and his thinking skills had been flawed.

Andrew Barr, 29, driving with excess alcohol

A soldier was over the alcohol limit when he drove on a mercy mission to see a woman friend who had been injured in a fall.

Andrew Barr, 29, who is based at Fulwood Barracks, Fulwood, Preston, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 17 months, fined £346 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £34 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said police stopped Barr as he drove a Citroen on Salt Marsh Lane, Poulton October 22 at 1.45am.

Barr told police he had had a drink several hours before.

A breath test showed 66 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.
