Mark Fareham, 45, possession of illegal drugs

A man with a bad drugs habit was found with heroin and amphetamine on Christmas Day.

Mark Fareham told police that the drugs were for his own use over the festive period and that sometime he spent £30 a day on heroin.

Fareham, a 45-year-old bachelor, of Caunce Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to two offences of illegal possession of drugs.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks prison, suspended for two years with up to 24 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, ordered to do nine months drug rehabilitation and told to pay £115 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Adrian Hollamby, said Fareham was arrested on December 25 and once in custody he was seen fiddling with items in his jeans.

Police found wraps of heroin and amphetamine in his jeans. When interviewed Fareham told police he had a significant drug habit and at times had used four or five bags of heroin a day.

He had a record of 73 convictions over 30 years of committing crimes mainly of burglary, theft, handling stolen goods and drugs possession.

Stephen Wilson, 29, breach of post prison supervision

A former prisoner has been returned to jail after he committed further offences and broke the terms of his release.

Stephen Wilson, 29, of the Maydor Hotel, Blackpool, pleaded guilty via the videolink from Preston Prison, to breaching his post prison sentence supervision.

He was sentenced to 10 days jail by District Judge Jeff Brailsford.

Gillian O’Flaherty, prosecuting for the probation service, said Wilson had previously been for six weeks for an offence of assault.

After his release he was under the post sentence supervision of the probation service and living in accommodation approved by probation.

He was twice late back for the curfew at the approved accommodation, then left it and committed further offences.

Gerry Gelms, 33, breach of the peace

A man with a history of having razor blades in his possession while causing a disturbance caused a fracas in Blackpool.

Garry Helms had to be Tasered three times by police but the stun-gun was ineffective against the defendant and officers had to take him bodily to the floor.

Helms, 33, of Higginshaw Lane, Royton, Oldham, pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and breaching a previous binding over.

He was bound over in the sum of £100 for 12 months by District Judge Brailsford.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police were called to Helms’ girlfriend’s address in the resort’s Lytham Road on Saturday.

Helms was said to have possession of a knife and razor blades and been threatening his girlfriend and also to harm himself.

He refused to obey police instructions and put his hands behind his back. Helms reached for something in his pocket and police twice used a stun-gun on him but it had no effect.

He then began to walk towards his girlfriend and a couple who were there. A stun gun was again used on him but did not work and police took him to the ground.

A razor blade was found in the pocket he had been reaching into.

Helms had previously been bound over in the sum of £50 for six months on January 20 after an incident involving razor blades.

Helms said he could not remember what happened but apologised for being an idiot.

He added he was at his girlfriend’s and the next minute police were using a stun gun on him.

Kathryn Hilton, 33, causing serious alarm and distress

A wife accused of stalking her estranged husband has made her first appearance at court.

Kathryn Hilton is alleged to have bombarded him with phone calls, messages and emails, tailed him in her car and visited his home address.

Hilton, 33, of Poppy Field Way, Pilling, pleaded not guilty to stalking Andrew Hilton causing him serious alarm and distress.

She was bailed for trial by District Judge Brailsford.

Hilton must live at an address on Lancaster Road, Cabus, near Garstang, not enter Pilling and not contact the complainant except through solicitors in relation to child contact as conditions of her bail.
