Barry Miller, 39, harassment and theft

A Blackpool man was ordered to the cells after his foul-mouthed outburst in court ended with him spitting at a probation officer.

District Judge Jeff Brailsford told security officers to remove 39-year-old Barry Miller from the dock.

Miller, of The Promenade,Blackpool was about to be sentenced after he admitted the theft of a mobile phone and a harassment offence.

When Miller realised he was being sent back to prison – he had only just been freed on licence – he let fly with a torrent of swear words aimed at probation who he blamed for not getting him accommodation.

The judge had been old how Miller had stolen the phone from a probation officer when he went for an appointment at their offices.

The judge ordered Miller be returned to serve the rest of his sentence.”

Zoe Smith, 19, failing to comply with order

A teenager with attitude was abusive aggressive and used racist language towards care officers when she was on a court order.

Zoe Smith was rude to a social worker calling her a “bitch” and shouted and swore in front of probation officers at the Lancashire Women’s Centre.

She told care officers: “I have an attitude - get used to it.”

Smith, unemployed, 19, of Queen Street Blackpool, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community order.

She was sentenced to 12 weeks jail, suspended for 12 months and told to pay £60 costs.

Cheryl Crawford, prosecuting, said Smith had been put on a 12 months community order in December last year with up to 25 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service for an offence of assaulting her boyfriend.

On August 18 Smith caused at fracas at the Lancashire Women’s Centre becoming abusive and demanding to phone her social worker. She then called the worker a bitch before shouting and swearing and throwing down a pen.

On September 1 she was aggressive and challenging both in her language and behaviour before telling an officer: “breach me, I don’t care.”

She had to be removed from the building as she shouted at the worker that she was a bitch. She later returned to the Lancashire Women’s Centre with her boyfriend and the two of them began hitting each other.

Hugh Pond, defending, said his client had had a very bad start in life being born to a mother who was a heroin addict.

Mr Pond added: “She has an anger problem and that manifests itself in swearing at and being abusive to people trying to help her.”

Jake Jones, 21, conspiracy to supply drugs

A man accused of conspiring to supply drugs at Blackpool has appeared at court over the video link.

Jake Jones, 21, of no fixed address, is charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine between March and August last year.

He is also accused of possessing 10.58 grams of cannabis.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, asked for the case to be sent to crown court.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, did not ask for bail for his client. Jones was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on November 1.

James Levett, 27, failing to comply with community order

A father missed appointments with his probation officer as he tried to juggle the care of his three young children.

James Levett, 27, of Central Drive, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community order.

He was sentenced to serve 10 extra days rehabilitation supervised by the probation service.

Cheryl Crawford, prosecuting for the probation service, said Levett had been sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 20 days rehabilitation and 14 weeks curfew for driving while disqualified and driving while unfit.

On May 22 and August 29 he failed to attend appointments with his probation officer. It was his second breach of the order.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said Levett and his partner had three children aged nine months, three and five years of age.

It was a difficult situation and Levett was juggling his commitments to help care for the children.

Jordan Hogan, 18, and Peter Davies, 19, robbery

Two young men accused of a masked street robbery during which their victim is alleged to have received stab wounds to his legs have appeared at court.

The duo were remanded in custody and will appear at Preston Crown Court where they will appear on November 1st. They are Jordan Hogan, 18, and Peter Davies, 19, both of King Street, Blackpool.
