A woman involved in the theft of a handbag was put under citizens arrest by a witness.
Anna-Marie Billing, 40, of Windsor Avenue, South Shore, denied theft but was found guilty after a trial.
She was sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months, put on 12 months supervision and ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said a man saw Billing and another woman acting suspiciously in Flares nightclub on June 3 at 11pm.
He followed them outside and saw them with a handbag which he took off them.
He then put them under citizens arrest until police arrived.
Trevor Colebourne, defending, told magistrates that his client maintained the taking of the handbag was not down to her.
