A baby and a toddler were allegedly found living among an arsenal of weapons including a live Taser stun gun, an axe, a crossbow and a knuckleduster.

The children were also said to be in poor health and inadequately dressed in the squalid conditions at an address in the Thornton and Cleveleys area.

The parents, a 23-year-old man and his 25-year-old girlfriend, are charged with ill-treating and neglecting a one-year-old baby girl and a three-year-old boy.

The defendants, who can not be identified for legal reasons, are said to have committed the offences between February and March this year.

Elliott Taylforth, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Solicitors for the accused said their clients would not indicate pleas at this stage.

The defendants were bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 6.
