Detectives investigating an attack in which the victim suffered a fractured skull are appealing for information about the incident.

The assault happened at about 9.45pm on October 31 at the junction of Dickson Road and Queen Street in Blackpool, but police have only just released the information.

The victim, a 39 year old man, was approached by a group of males with whom he got into an argument before being spat at.

He then ended up on the floor and the group stamped on his head. The offenders are thought to have made off towards the town centre.

The victim suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain, and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Dave Little of Blackpool CID said: “This was an incredibly malicious assault which left the victim with horrific injuries and he now faces a long road to recovery.

"Our inquiries to trace those responsible for the assault are on-going and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who has any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.”
