A father described as having an appalling criminal record was caught stealing whisky from a supermarket.

Steven Beavers, 43, of The Spinney, Anchorsholme, pleaded guilty to theft.

He was fined £65 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by District Judge David Scanlon, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said: “The security tag on the bottle was slightly loose and he was tempted.”
