A man accused of gouging his girlfriend’s eye and biting her arm while they were at Blackpool’s De Vere Hotel has made his first appearance at court.

Harry Allen is also alleged to have kicked and punched his girlfriend, hit her with a chair, spat at her and stabbed her in the leg with a key, over a six-month period. Allen, 27, of Pansey Road, Bolton, faces four charges of assaulting his girlfriend causing her actual bodily.

He is also accused of two offences of assaulting her, one offence of damaging her phone and one offence of assaulting a police officer. The offences are said to have taken place between July 1 and December 19 this year. Defence lawyer, Andrew Costello, said his client would not indicate pleas to the offences. Allen was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 20 by Blackpool magistrates.
